Key Elements and Practices of Fusing Unit Quality Control
Aug 21, 2025
As a core component of image output devices, the quality control of the fusing unit directly impacts the clarity, durability, and overall performance of the final image. Effective quality control requires comprehensive control throughout the entire process, from design, materials, manufacturing processes, and testing.
Material selection and process precision are fundamental. Key components of the fusing unit, such as the heating roller, pressure roller, and fusing film, must be constructed from specialized, high-temperature-resistant and wear-resistant materials, such as fluoropolymer coatings or aluminum alloy substrates, to ensure long-term stable thermal conductivity and mechanical strength. During the manufacturing process, roller concentricity tolerances must be controlled to the micron level, and surface finish must achieve Ra 0.1μm or less to prevent defects that can lead to uneven fusing and paper jams.
Dynamic control of temperature and pressure is crucial. The fusing unit uses high-precision sensors to monitor the heating roller temperature in real time (within ±1°C) and uses a PID algorithm to adjust the heating module power to ensure stable fusing temperatures within the set range. Furthermore, the contact pressure between the pressure roller and the heating roller must be precisely calibrated (typically 150-300 gf/cm) to achieve a balance between fixing stability and paper passability.
Factory testing and long-term reliability verification are essential. Each fixing unit undergoes high-temperature aging testing (over 500 hours of continuous operation), thermal shock cycles (-20°C to 200°C), and compatibility testing with different media (plain paper, thick cardboard). Furthermore, a standardized quality inspection process is established, including infrared thermal imaging to check temperature uniformity, toner residue analysis, and mechanical durability assessment.
Through this rigorous quality control system, the failure rate of the fixing unit can be reduced by over 40%, while extending the equipment's service life and ensuring efficient and stable image output for users.
