The fusing unit is a core component of image output devices such as copiers and printers. Its function is to permanently fix the developed toner image to the paper using heat and pressure. Over time, the stability of the fusing unit directly affects output quality and device lifespan, making it crucial to accumulate experience in operation and maintenance.

In daily use, temperature control is a key parameter of the fusing unit. The temperature of the fusing roller must be precisely adjusted according to the paper type and toner characteristics. Too high a temperature may cause paper deformation or excessive toner melting, while too low a temperature may cause image loss. Regular calibration using a temperature monitoring tool is recommended, and prolonged continuous operation in high-temperature environments is avoided. Furthermore, cleaning and maintenance directly impact fusing performance. Toner residue can form a layer of dirt on the surface of the fusing roller, resulting in uneven fusing or scratches on the paper. After each cycle, use a dedicated cleaning paper or soft cloth to remove any residue from the roller surface and inspect the pressure spring for signs of aging and failure.

For troubleshooting, pay close attention to the condition of the fusing lamp and thermistor. Aging lamps can reduce heating efficiency, while a malfunctioning thermistor can cause frequent activation of the overheating protection. It's recommended to check lamp brightness and resistance every six months and replace any abnormalities promptly. Lubrication and maintenance are also essential. Lack of lubrication on the bearings at both ends of the fuser roller can increase wear and produce unusual noises. Regular application of high-temperature silicone grease can extend component life.

Experience has shown that standardized operating procedures and regular maintenance can significantly reduce the failure rate of the fuser unit. Monitoring temperature, cleaning the roller surface, and inspecting critical components not only improves output reliability but also reduces efficiency losses caused by unplanned downtime. For high-load equipment, a preventive maintenance plan is recommended to ensure the fuser unit is always in optimal working condition.
